Fred Astaire’s Manager for the South Barrington studio hails from a cozy little town in the hills of Brazil called Campina Grande.  It was here that Kelya Assis first experienced dance as a young girl both in jazz and modern, as well as the cultural rhythms of the Brazilian Samba beat.

Kelya originally came to the U.S. for education but found her calling teaching dance for Fred Astaire.  She quickly established herself by becoming the top female teacher in the region as well as having a part in ABC7’s Last Dance.  As an enthusiastic instructor who inspires her students with her knowledge and movement, she is often heard cheering her students loudly in their lessons.

Kelya is well rounded with many skills.  She has the ability to speak three languages, is an avid guitar player, and has a tremendous creative spark. She was a natural choice for the management position of South Barrington as she is a leader by example and inspiration.
